Where Derek Stingley Falls In The Latest Draft Wire Simulation
One of LSU’s best defensive players could make the top five in the 2022 NFL Draft, according to new projections from USA Today Sports.
Even though she’s only four weeks old, the NFL season is underway and some of the results may give NFL and college fans a glimpse of which teams will fall in which places in the 2022 Draft.
With that in mind, USA Today’s Luke Easterling took a look at how the first three rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft might play out, using the latest updated draft order after the Week 4 results.
Easterling has LSU All-American cornerback and Derek Stingley Jr., third overall for the New York Jets. Stingley Jr. came out with a foot injury that he underwent surgery this week. His return to the field schedule for the Tigers is unknown at this time, but the talent is undeniable and the Tigers missed him in defense.
Two-time All-American Stingley initially injured his left foot during preseason. He then suffered the same unspecified injury in training on September 22 and missed the last two games.
“I appreciate all the support from LSU and the fans,” Stingley Jr. said in a statement this week. “I’m doing everything I can to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. I want to finish the season with my teammates and I will do my best to be healthy so that I can play again this year.
Stingley played in seven of LSU’s 10 games last season, recording 27 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss and five breakage passes. The American Football Coaches Association named him to the All-American First Team.
