James Milner, Liverpool FC‘s current oldest player at 36, is an incredibly fit human being. Following the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimović – and outclassing teammate Mohamed Salah in the fitness stakes – the Liverpool midfielder and full-back is a fine example of how advanced age and peak fitness can go from peer. .

Take this short snippet of a leg workout James posted on his Instagram account towards the end of 2021.

Whether he’s putting his body through pre-season training or maintaining his physique (he’s been known to have a body fat percentage as low as 8%, according to former Manchester City athletic therapist Paul Webster) , James Milner leads a variety of workouts, including cardio and strength.
He also, according to the Echo of Liverpool (Going through The sun) continues to beat his teammates in a lactate test. The Echo of Liverpool says, “This notorious program measures player aerobic endurance as participants are challenged to run a series of increasing distances at high speed.”
“At the end of each checkpoint, a blood sample is taken from each player’s ear to measure their lactic acid level. If the level is too high, they have to give up until only one player remains.
And James Milner wins it every year, “The former Anfield statesman is seemingly untouchable when it comes to the lactate test, finishing top of the list every season he has been at the club,” according to the Echo of Liverpool.
Paul Webster, addressing ObjectivePart of the reason James Milner is able to stay so fit is because of his attitude towards life away from the gym and the training ground. “That’s it: drink, James doesn’t touch alcohol; food, he is meticulous with what he eats; his timing is perfect; he has goals – he wants to get fitter and stronger as the months go by; his general demeanor and inner discipline,” he says.

Grinning from ear to ear in every frame, James continues to indicate how unfazed he is by the training regimen he is being asked to do, due to his strength.
