The former Arsenal winger hasn’t made the squad in any of Liverpool’s last seven games of the 2021-22 campaign, underlining how much the Reds don’t really need him.
However, the imminent arrival of Calvin Ramsay is likely to spell the end of Klopp’s summer activities.
And according to The Mirror, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been told he will not be allowed to leave Merseyside this summer.
The report adds that Liverpool owners would rather lose the England international – out of contract in 12 months – on a free transfer next year than sell him before September and have to sign an alternative to replace him.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving Liverpool a wise good move?
Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving Liverpool is likely the player’s preference, due to the fact that he has struggled primarily for regular football under the German manager.
And the addition of another midfielder would have been the nail in the coffin in his career at Anfield.
However, talent was never Oxlade-Chamberlain’s problem; it is his consistency that holds him back and he is therefore both the cause and the solution of his own downfall.
He is a player more than capable of being a big asset to Liverpool again and it will be fascinating to see what next season has in store for him.
