Liverpool FC — Why this pre-season is so important for Rhys Williams
Williams said: “All the guys are looking forward to it; it’s not only a good experience to go and play United in these countries, but also the cultural side of things.
“You get to experience different things and places that we probably wouldn’t normally go to if it was just out of season. It’s always good to go and experience those things.
“If I can impress here and the gaffer wants me to stay, that’s a bonus. But if my playing time can come elsewhere, I have to show what I can do on these big stages, even if it’s acts as a pre-season friendly, as it’s still against massive clubs in the Premier League.
Two of Liverpool’s three signings for the new campaign have joined pre-season training so far, with Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay at the AXA academy.
Darwin Nunez is also coming and Williams is already excited for what the trio can produce in red.
“The guys we’ve brought in, we’ve already seen them with Fabio training today and yesterday he’s at a very high level,” the centre-back concluded.
“He is brilliant with the ball. He gets used to how we want to play and how we want to press. I think everyone the club has signed will have a huge impact for us.
