Liverpool fans ‘love’ what Steven Gerrard did ahead of Manchester United game

Steven Gerrard was no stranger to scoring against Manchester United during his Liverpool career.
The legendary midfielder has scored nine times against the Red Devils during his time with the Reds, including five at Old Trafford.
Only against Everton (10) and Aston Villa (13) received more goals from Gerrard in a Liverpool shirt than United, who made sure to give their former nemesis a proper welcome on his return to home ground.

Facing United in the FA Cup third round as manager of Aston Villa, Gerrard was booed by those inside the stadium as he made his way to the pitch.
Before continuing his approach to the canoe on the outside, the 41-year-old turned to pause and watch Stretford End while chewing on a piece of gum – eliciting an even stronger reaction from the home crowd.
Gerrard’s response to his welcome at Old Trafford certainly didn’t go unnoticed among Liverpool fans on social media, who paid tribute to the former club captain for his nonchalant approach.
Villa lost a first-half goal after Scott McTominay’s strike eight minutes into the game, but appeared to have leveled the game shortly after the restart thanks to former Liverpool striker Danny Ings.
After a long VAR check, however, this was ruled out for a previous foul.
The West Midlands team couldn’t find a way to pass the home side for the second time later in the game, allowing United to advance to the fourth round of the competition.
