JK Dobbins uses Pro Football Focus rankings as fuel
After a phenomenal rookie year, the Baltimore Ravens are expecting big things from second year running back JK Dobbins. The former Ohio State University star showed his brilliance, elusiveness, poise and more as he led all running backs in yards per carry in 2020 while breaking the rookie’s touchdown record from Baltimore.
Dobbins was asked whether he appeared to have a chip on his shoulder. He responded by saying he had a “pretty big” chip, using things like Pro Football Focus’s ranking of him earlier in the offseason as fuel.
“Yeah, I’m trying to get bigger, stronger and faster – always. You know that chip on my shoulder is pretty big. Just a little gasoline, like PFF [Pro Football Focus] ranking 26th… I don’t think I’m 26th, but I love it. It gives me room to improve. I have people to prove they are wrong.
Pro Football Focus grabbed the headlines when it ranked Dobbins as the 26th best running back in the NFL at the start of the 2021 season. Their decision to rank Dobbins so low drew quite a bit of backlash, especially among devotees of the Ravens. Even Mark Andrews and Dobbins himself have made their views known on the ranking.

I just let PFF do the talking, I’m pretty sure none of these guys really know how to rate a movie

With a full offseason to improve and an improved overall offense in Baltimore, Dobbins is largely expected to have a massive breakout season in 2021. He looks set to take on more of the workload, and though people doubt him or him. underestimate, he’s ready to show the world how well he can use the fuel his skeptics give him.
