Can a reinvigorated Kane send Tottenham back to the Champions League?

Spurs took the lead twice against Pep Guardiola’s men through strikes from Dejan Kulusevski and Kane, but were caught by İlkay Gündoğan and a penalty from Riyad Mahrez which appeared to have given City some of the spoils in the additional time. However, Kane still had enough time to claim all three points for Antonio Conte’s side with an accurate header, ending a three-game losing streak in Spurs’ top flight.

It was a twist of irony for Guardiola and City as they had four rebuffed offers for the England captain last summer, and his efforts alone opened the title race and gave Tottenham much hope of progressing. for the Champions League. need a shot in the arm. Spurs are now backed by soccer bookmaker ブックメーカー サッカー bets at 9/4 to finish in the top four, which would be a remarkable achievement for the club given their slow start to the campaign.

Kane proves that class is permanent

Kane was disappointing this term but highlighted his world-class pedigree. He had never scored against a side coached by Guardiola before Spurs’ victory at the Etihad Stadium, but he gave the Spaniard a firm boost he perhaps should have tried a lot harder to get his signing last summer. It would be a humiliating prospect for City that their failure to complete a deal for Kane would cost them a Premier League crown.

City’s loss was Tottenham’s gain, and it wasn’t just their goals that made the difference, it was their all-around game. It was obvious from the start that the 28-year-old was fired up and he released Son Heung-Min with a defensive pass from his own half that saw the striker launch Kulusevski for a tap-in to score the opener . . Kane had the ball on a string for most of the game and could have put the game away in the second half after his first goal which was a skillful finish. The striker saw a goal disallowed by VAR for offside against Kulusevski and then was denied by a brilliant save from Ederson.

The England captain put in a clinical performance from start to finish and it was telling that two very good defenders, Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte, couldn’t match his strength and movement. Spurs have been waiting for this Kane the whole campaign. Cynics may suggest he may have been sulking at the start of the season after his move to City failed to cross the line, and that wasn’t helped by Tottenham’s uninspiring hunt for a new manager. Nuno Espirito Santo’s style didn’t match Kane, but now Conte has seemingly reignited the fire in his gut.

At 28, time is running out for the striker to win the Champions League. There is a huge opportunity for Spurs to make a late push for the top four and Kane at the peak of his powers can carry them there. It might be his last act as a Tottenham player, but it would be a fitting way for his tenure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to end to leave the club in the Champions League places. Alternatively, should the club display significant ambition in the transfer market, this could be the crucial factor that could keep him at the Lilywhites for the duration of his career.
