Besiktas vs Sporting Lisbon prediction, preview, team news and more
Two teams desperately in need of a win face off in UEFA Champions League Group C on Tuesday as Besiktas host Sporting Lisbon at Vodafone Park.
Both parties will seek to outdo each other and launch their campaign. They find themselves on the wrong side of the group standings after losing their first two group matches.
So far it has been a bumpy Champions League race for Turkish champions Besiktas. Sergen Yalcin’s men opened their campaign with a 2-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund on September 15.
This was followed by a 2-0 loss to Ajax, when Steven Berghuis and Sébastien Haller scored in the first half to give the Eredivisie champions all three points.
Besiktas heads to Tuesday’s game after a 3-2 loss to Basaksehir and is on a three-game losing streak in his last four games.
Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon have failed to maintain their national dominance in Europe as they are currently at the bottom of Group C of the Champions League.
While Ruben Amorim’s men are unbeaten in the Primeira Liga, they failed to score a point in their two Champions League games, losing to Dortmund and Ajax.
Sporting Lisbon head into Tuesday’s game after a resounding 4-0 victory over CF Os Belenenses at Taca de Portugal and will look to build on the momentum.
Besiktas vs Sporting Lisbon Head to Head
This will be the third meeting between the two teams, with Sporting Lisbon being the top team in the two previous meetings. The Portuguese team were undefeated on both occasions, taking a win and a draw.
