5 Star Tour Change CB Tony Mitchell

One of the nation’s top cornerback rookies will return to Gainesville on March 26, according to 247Sports.
Tony Mitchell, a five-star freshman from Alabaster, Alabama, was supposed to return to the University of Florida the weekend of March 18, but that trip was pushed back in hopes of a reschedule. It didn’t take long for Mitchell to schedule a new date to visit the swamp.
During his last visit in January, Mitchell spent a lot of time with cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond, who is known as one of the best defensive back scouts in the country. Raymond usually gets his man, so it’s no surprise to see Florida in Mitchell’s first Top 7.

Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, USL, Oregon and Texas A&M are the other teams still in the running for his services.
He’s expected to whittle that list down in the near future, and Florida appears to be in a good position with him to schedule a second visit in two months.
“The chance to play early stands out for me,” Mitchell told 247Sports. “I trust Coach Napier and what he’s going to do for Florida going forward. Coach Raymond is a great DB coach and knows how to develop players and he’s sent a bunch of guys into the league.
Being from Florida, playing for the Gators would give Mitchell a chance to play in front of his family in college. He is the No. 3 cornerback on the 247Sports composite and the No. 19 rookie overall for the Class of 2023.
Stealing the Crimson Tide from him won’t be easy, but that’s exactly the kind of challenge Florida gave Billy Napier.
