3-star WR Andy Jean plans official visit

At one point, three-star Northwestern (Miami, Fla.) wide receiver Andy Jean committed to the school in his hometown of Miami. That changed in March after an unofficial visit to the University of Florida and continued conversations with the Gators in the mix to land the rookie in the state.
Jean will make one of his five official visits to UF on June 24, according to Andrew Ivins of 247Sports. Penn State, which recently offered him on May 4, will have him on June 10 thanks to a healthy relationship with the former and current Hurricanes head coach. Nittany Lions defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.
GeorgiaMiami and Texas A&M rounds out Jean’s top five, and he says it all evened out before the summer. Ivins thinks Florida is the team that stands out from a third-party perspective based on some of Jean’s comments.
“Florida is a great school,” Jean said. “They make me feel like home because, you know, it’s still Florida. They just have great energy there. The coaches are real coaches. They make me smile. When we’re off the pitch, they don’t even really talk about football. And then when we talk about football, we only talk about football. I like that.”
Seems like staying close to home means something to Jean. Mario Cristobal and the new Hurricanes will have a chance to use that homegrown game at some point as the 6-foot-1, 180-pound player plans to give them another chance to win it back before he decides. Although there is no date set yet, Jean wants to commit before the start of his senior season.
Jean is ranked No. 60 among receivers in the 247Sports recruiting rankings, but On3 has his stock a bit higher. The On3 consensus ranks him as a four-star rookie and No. 302 nationally. He also ranks 44th among receivers.
It’s no secret that Florida is looking to add receivers. Virtually none were added with the Class of 2022 and several pass catchers remained through the coaching transition. Jean’s star rating may be up for debate, but his speed is not. He’s aiming for national gold next week in the 4×100 after dominating regionals with his speed.
Time is running out to land this fast receiver, and Florida looks set to succeed.
