2022 Pac-12 teams ranked by average talent rating after signing day

In the days following the wild and crazy National College Football Signing Day, fans will be inundated with ratings and metrics that will tell them just how talented their new recruiting class is. There are winners and losers, and teams that might feel like they’ve been left dateless at the dance, but nearly every team can at least find some positives in their recruiting class and be excited about. the talent they have in the future.
In the Pac-12, a few traditional powerhouses rose to prominence after the first signing period saw a few underdogs start to lead the way. With the hiring of Lincoln Riley and Dan Lanning, USC and Oregon have resumed their recruiting game and landed some impressive talent this cycle. However, when looking at traditional rankings, this can be hard to see. This is where the numbers can lie to you a bit.
Traditional recruiting rankings look like this in the Pac-12, according to 247Sports:
- Cardinal of Stanford
- Arizona Wildcats
- Oregon ducks
- utah utes
- Colorado buffaloes
- Oregon State Beavers
- UCLA Bruins
- California Golden Bear
- Washington State Cougars
- USC Trojans
- washington huskies
- Arizona State Sun Devils
So USC only signing 8 rookies overshadows the fact that they picked the Pac-12’s only 5-star prospect? Apparently this should be taken into account…
Instead of looking at the traditional rankings, we instead want to see what the Pac-12 landscape looks like when taking into account the average talent rating. This means that if you signed 10 players, but 8 of those players were 4-star prospects, you don’t have a lower rating than a team that signed 25 players, 23 of whom were 3-star (yes, that means you, Colorado.)
Without further ado, here are the Pac-12 ratings according to average player rating:
